Summer Fridays started at work, I got out around 2:30 (ish) this past Friday which was amazing – such a great start to the weekend! I was so pumped I printed out one of my Saves from Eversave and got a mani-pedi at Bella Capelli in Medford.
I got light pink of my fingernails and a darker pink on my toes – very summery! I usually only ever get red, so this was a big step for me. I also got my eyebrows waxed which I never really do – they did a great job with everything and were so nice! It made for quite a relaxing afternoon.
So Friday night I got ready and headed to Vlora on Boylston Street in Copley Square for a blogger meet-up hosted by the We Are Not Martha ladies – thanks again!! My sister Meg came with me, and my new blogger friend, Elizabeth! I also got to meet some new bloggers, and see a few familiar faces like Meghan and Alicia! Was a great time.
“In the heart of Back Bay, lives the soul of Mediterranean cuisine. Vlora, named after Chef/Owner Aldo Velaj’s hometown in Albania, represents more than authentic Mediterranean cuisine—it embraces the true Mediterranean lifestyle.
The dishes reflect the age old adage of “eat better and live better.” With an emphasis on freshness and a minimalist cooking style, the naturally healthy menu covers tastes from the Northern Mediterranean region encompassing Albania, Greece, and Southern Italy. The menu and wine list are an extension of the flavors and dishes served in Aldo’s own home, including exclusive handpicked wines and lovingly prepared signature dishes that are unmatched within the city. Believing that food should taste like food, the natural tastes and flavors of the freshest ingredients are enhanced primarily with olive oil and fresh herbs.
No need to travel abroad – experience the Mediterranean, here, in Boston’s Copley Square.”
So Meg and I had a little slumber party Friday night – it was a lot of fun.
Saturday morning we grabbed breakfast at the Sidewalk Cafe and headed to the beach!
We also grabbed lunch at the Sidewalk Cafe – oops!
After our beach adventure, I got my highlights touched up at Rock Paper Scissors Salon (for the wedding!) Mia did my hair again, and again she did a wonderful job – it’s even a bit more blond this time and I love it. I really, really like this salon.
Last night Colin and I saw Grown Ups. It was really funny! A bit corny and a tad random at times, but definitely funny. I love Sandler, Rock and James so much so I’m pretty sure I’d like anything with them in it (I am still dying to see Chris Rock’s Good Hair…) I’m not the biggest Spade or Schneider fan but they did add a few chuckles here and there – they rounded out the crew nicely. Always love seeing Steve Buscemi pop up in Sandler movies haha.
As for today – Colin, Liz, Kelly and myself (cause we’re the four best friends….) headed to Newburyport and met up with their friend Chris and his dad to go out on their boat for some fishing. It was a blast! We all caught some fish and didn’t experience any catastrophes, which is good. I so enjoy being out on a boat – it is totally relaxing. It was so nice of Chris and his dad to take us out!
After our boating outing we were staaahving, so we headed to downtown Newburyport for some Upper Crust pizza; it was just what the doctah ordahed. (I don’t know what’s with the ‘writing with an accent’ thing…)
Next on the agenda was ice cream…
The rest of my day was spent running errands for Ireland and visiting a dear friend. This weekend was busy as all hell, but it was jam-packed with goodness. Now, only 3 days til Ireland, oh my!

I LOVE Newburyport! So fun! And I live pretty close to that beach; when you get back we should get together for some sun!
We absolutely should! I’ll be back on Friday the 8th so maybe the next weekend?? I love going down to that beach.
SO great to meet you!! The food at Vlora was awesome. I want more of that watermelon & feta salad. Looks like you had an awesome weekend. The weather was perfect up there.
So good to meet you too! I hope you had a great weekend in Boston! Those candied nuts were AMAZING by the way – thanks again!!
