Sara Bareilles! (And 100 Days of Kindness, Day 9)

Sometimes things work out exactly how they’re supposed to.

Today was the Sara Bareilles concert at the House of Blues. My friends Nicole, Christine and I have been so excited for months now.

Well, today I was so excited that when I saw 92.5 The River tweet about giving away free tickets, I immediately replied to their tweet. ‘Why’ you say? When you already had tickets and were planning on going to the concert?…

I have no clue why I responded! But I did, and I won!

So… then I tried (for a decent chunk of the afternoon) to find two friends to come along to the concert… no takers! I reached out on Twitter and Facebook and even asked around work… no one!

I emailed The River to see if they could pick a new winner, but we couldn’t work it out. I was afraid no one was going to be able to take advantage of these great tickets. But then my friend Nuge pulled through – she was able to come. Still left one, little, lonely ticket….

I got to the House of Blues and picked up the tickets. I decided I would find go to the nearest person to me and see if they needed a ticket. I asked the first girl I saw. Turns out, she was standing with two other girls. Two of them had tickets, one didn’t. Perfect! I gave them my ticket so they could all go in and have a fantastic time. I hope they did! They seemed excited. :)

And that was my ‘niceness’ for today.

So, Cary Brothers opened and was really good. He played ‘Blue Eyes’ from ‘Garden State’ which is a great song and one of the only ones I know of his. Sara B. was fabulous – she has such a good voice and is a damn good pianist. She’s also teeny tiny and bops around the stage while cursing and being witty – which I think is pretty funny.

Here is a sneak peek of the amazing concert:

Never been to the House of Blues Boston before... was a great place to see a show!!

  1. I went to this concert too and I was totally blown away. She’s hilarious and quirky (and loves to throw around F-bombs like there’s no tomorrow). Not to mention her voice is incredible. The entire performance was so much fun – glad you enjoyed it too!

  5. Haha– you are too adorable! And can I just say, “tickling the ivories” is one of my favorite expressions of all time. I’m always on the lookout for pianos, just for a reason to be able to say that phrase aloud.

I didn’t go to the concert bc I figured I should save my money for the album. Thanks for sharing the video though.
