Nervous. Confident. Tricks.
These three words are for the Celtics. Why? Because I’m nervous for the game. I hope they’re not nervous, but instead, confident. I also hope they have some tricks up their sleeves.
Let’s go C’s!

Perk?!
Nate?!
WHY, Danny, WHY?!
I’m so bummed about today’s Celtics trade. I’m 100% against Perk leaving. Personally, I think we need him especially in the playoffs! Plus, he’s the baddest mofo around.
As for Nate…I understand he has had his highs and lows, but still…he brought such enthusiasm and energy to the team and that was really valuable. He understood what it meant to be a Celtic, and he was good at it. Plus, he’s so little and cute — you just have to love him.
I’m really going to miss both these guys (as are a whole sh*t ton of people in Boston I think).
Well, there’s no crying in basketball, I guess…so I’ll just have to move on eventually. Good luck Perk and Nate!
My friend Rachel was kind enough to invite me to the Celtics game tonight, so I treated her to her train ticket.
Great game tonight! More to come tomorrow…
Ladies and gentleman, they’re baaaaaaaack!

Thank the dear Lord; the Celtics have returned. I am more than excited. I am elated. My boys are back and I’m ready for a fun-filled, action-packed season. Rondo’s already had his first triple double (guess how many triple doubles he will record this season here), Paul (I can call him Paul because we’re good friends) is looking good, KG is keeping it together, Ray still has it, Big Baby has trimmed down a bit and is ready to go, Nate is bringing more energy than ever and let’s face it, Shaqachusetts is an exciting addition. He is a big, huge ball of greatness and I’m happy to have him.
Colin and I are headed to the game tonight! SO pumped.
100 Days of Kindness, Day 3:
Two things today. First, I decided to take some time on my lunch break to hang out with my friend Jess. She’s great and we hardly get to hang out because we’re both so busy. When we’re hanging out it’s usually at work and we’re talking about work stuff. Today we decided to have an out-of-office adventure and it was really nice to get to spend some time together! It’s important to spend time with friends and to get to know people from work in an ‘outside-of-work-don’t-have-to-always-talk-about-work’ environment.
Second, I decided I’d like to treat Colin to our favorite pre-game cuisine – Half Time Pizza. We usually go here before games to stuff our faces. Colin usually pays because he is awesome and too good to me. He’s my best bud. He does so much for me and I love to be able to treat him to delicious things like Halftime Pizza and a few beers once in a while, so tonight we will feast!
It is officially 3 weeks from today till Meg and Matt’s wedding in Ireland! I can’t believe it’s coming SO soon now – it’s gonna be a blast!!! On that note, I went to the gym tonight because I truly need to be good these last few weeks – it’s crunch time baby. I’m wearing a strapless dress and my guns gotta look good you feel me?
Quick post tonight, because I am exhausted due to the Celtics…
The weekend was great – Friday night a bunch of us went to Sissy K’s after work to enjoy some classy $1.50 drafts along with a dance party, felt like I was in college again. It was fun and I was even in bed by midnight, gotta love it. Saturday Colin’s parents were down helping Colin’s sister Liz move into her new apartment, so Colin and I went over to help. What a beautiful place it is! She is going to have a great time!
Afterward, we went to dinner downtown to Grill 23. It was beautiful and delicious! I ordered the Prime Flatiron steak au poivre which came with potato, cheddar & saucisson gratin – YUM. We also got mac n’ cheese, broccoli gratin, pomme frites and mashed potatoes as sides along with some red wine. We were all so full when we left! Such a lovely evening.
Sunday we went to mass and then I headed up to Andover to help Meg with some final wedding things. I literally can not believe it’s so close now! We had a nice afternoon/evening. Meg even fed me dinner and dessert, such a good big sister! I was so hungry I didn’t catch a picture of my dinner, but here is the amazing dessert Meg whipped up.
Lady was so excited to see me, and vice versa – I miss that little bugger! She recently got shaved (because she basically had dreadlocks…) so I have included ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures – just like when I got my hair done a few weeks ago. I think she might look a little funnier than me?! Maybe not…. haha

Goodnight!
We had such a wonderful weekend at Colin’s grandpa’s house. Always a ton of laughs when we’re all together! Saturday we did some gardening (I learned that I have a natural talent for aerating soil.) We took lots of pictures of flowers (Mrs. T and I were snapping away.) We then had a bbq with delicious food and plenty of vino – yum! Today we went to church (ancient priest = looong mass) then had a lovely breakfast and got to visit with some of Colin’s grandmother’s sisters (great aunts?), it was very nice to see them and get to visit for a while.
Colin and I made it back just in time to watch the Celtics DOMINATE! Praise Jesus they won!!! Let’s keep it up boys. Back to beantown Tuesday – woopwoop.
Here are some of my pictures from the weekend. I got to play around with my new camera a little bit -
I’m in the house by myself. I’m currently sitting in my room in peace and quiet. It’s honestly a miracle after the past few days I have had. I’ve been going non-stop and let me tell you – it is draining. Do you ever feel like all the energy is just sucked right out of you? Or that there aren’t enough hours in the day? Ugh, why can’t I be a superhero? They can do everything…
Anyway, I am SO SORRY for not posting yesterday and all of today! I’m not following the rules of ‘no excuses, blog like a champion.’ I’m ashamed of myself and will strive to be a better blogger everyday. Especially for you Jean!
So tonight I helped judge the science fair at Meg’s school (Bellesini Academy in Lawrence, all boys grades 5-8.) At first I felt stupid, ‘Wait what is the variable? The thing that stays the same or the thing that changes?’ ‘And the control is the opposite, right?’ Ugh, I was never good at science.
I learned a thing or two which was nice. The judging part was hard, they all did a nice job so I was throwing 5′s out left and right (scale of 1-5, 5 being the highest score.) I didn’t want the people tallying up the points to think my scoring was fishy, so I threw in a few 4′s and one or two 3′s – it was stressful. Oh, I also think it’s worth mentioning that the boys at Meg’s school all think Meg and I are twins – mainly because we’re white, tall and have blond hair. They get a reeeal kick out of saying ‘Miss Mescall ‘and having both of us turn around to respond. Oh adolescent boys!

PS – I hope you caught the cast of Glee on Oprah today! I DVRed it so will have to watch it within the next few days!
The Celtics/Knicks game last night was a fist-pumpin’ good time. Started off with a traditional Irish dinner (for St. Patrick’s Day) of pizza and beer at Halftime Pizza – it was delicious. We actually got a nice booth too which usually never happens, so we were off to a good start.
The game was fun to watch, the Celtics played great – Paul Pierce had 29 points at the end of the game, KG not too far behind with 22. Last game we went to, the energy was low and people seemed disinterested. Fans were even booing the C’s. This time was very different, the energy was excellent; lots of fun. There were even Irish Step dancers at halftime! They were really good – very different from when I used to dance though. I guess I’m an old school step dancer, because from the amount of glitter on their dresses last night you would’ve thought we were at Studio 54. We didn’t do glitter. The boys especially did not wear rhinestone vests with hot pink ties (not that there’s anything wrong with that.) And wigs (they are so intense) didn’t make an appearance on the step dancing scene till I moved on to basketball in 7th grade. What happened to the old-fashioned way of curling your hair? I remember the good ol’ days the night before a feis (step dance competition) when my mother would patiently put curlers in my hair, I would sleep on them as if they were a bed of nails, and then in the morning my mother would not-as-patiently rip the curlers out as we rushed to get ready to leave (understandable – the whole process was relatively frustrating for both parties.)
Anyway, I went to the Celtics/Bulls game last year (while I was volunteering in Chicago) on St. Patrick’s Day and now I went again this year. I was pumped I got to go, I think I’m starting a new tradition… Final score – Celtics 109 – Knicks 97 – must’ve been the luck of the Irish!
