I truly love Thanksgiving. A day filled with tons of food, family, laughter, relaxation, wine, and all sorts of treats – is A.O.K in my book. I hope you are all enjoying the day with the people you love.

I wanted to share a few things I’m thankful for this year. It’s nice to acknowledge those things in our lives that we are grateful for. Here’s to keeping this feeling going for the whole year and not just during the holidays!

Cape time and happiness

I’m sitting here on the beach listening to the waves, absolutely basking in the sun. I’d like to soak up every last bit of summer if I can – I can’t believe it’s mid-August. Why does time go so fast when you’re a ‘grown up’?

As I sit here, I guess you could say I’m reflecting on my life at the moment. I am engaged to my love, Colin and wedding planning has been so much fun. I have a nephew on the way (in just a couple of weeks now!!!). My Mother is coming back from London finally (Dad, we want you back too!). I just attended a great conference in San Diego for work and got to see my big brother while I was out there. I have missed him so much and it was so darn good to sit down and catch up over a beer and a delicious meal. I have a good job and a new apartment we both love. One of my best friends in the world just came up to MA to visit and we had a ball! My family is happy and healthy and to me, that is most important. Not to mention the fact that I’m blogging while sitting on the beach in the Cape with Colin and his family. Life is good people, life is good.

I hope it doesn’t sound like I’m bragging or I’m trying to rub the whole “sitting on the beach while you’re
at work” thing in you’re face, because I’m not. What I’m doing here is taking a moment. I’m taking a second to breathe it all in and realize how thankful I am for all that I have mentioned. It’s so easy to get caught up in the BS of everyday life. Just last week I cried because I made a mistake at work (I need thicker skin, I know). I bitched almost all day long on Sunday because of waiting at the airport and losing my bag. I skip the gym because of laziness and I deprive my body of the sleep it needs by staying up too late every night. I pick fights with Colin when I’m cranky. I take important things for granted.

But today, I’m filled with thanks. I am quite simply, happy.

Happy Thanksgiving! (And 100 Days of Kindness, Day 25)

There is so much to be thankful for. Today, I’m going to get specific:

I’m thankful that when I wake up in the morning I can enjoy a warm shower. That I have clothes to wear and food to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’m thankful that I have a job to go to, a brain in my head to do my job well and paycheck I receive because of it. I’m thankful that I have a large family. Yes it’s crazy at times and yes we’ve been through the good, the bad and the ugly, but I can’t even tell you how thankful I am for them. They are so much apart of who I am and I’m so proud of each one of them. I’m thankful I have a boyfriend who loves me, puts up with my attitude, immaturity and bitchiness. Who makes me laugh like no other and always knows how to make me smile when it’s the last thing I want to do. I’m thankful for my friends. That when I need a fun night out, they know exactly what to do (dance, obviously). That when I need someone to go to, they are there. It doesn’t matter if they are in NY, MA, or anywhere else in the world. I’m thankful I can go to the gym and workout (even though I don’t always… hey that’s what the New Year is for and it’s right around the corner…). I’m thankful that whenever I have exciting news or upsetting news, I have someone to call. Someone will listen (even if they don’t really want to hear me bitch and complain). For so many other things as well but I’ll end with how thankful I am for you, reading this now. I love writing this blog. I finally have a hobby and I love it. So, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading all the random things I post. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

My ‘kindness’ today: My dad needed some last-minute stuff for our feast so I ran out to the store with Moll to get everything so he didn’t have to stress. We also made a fabulous pecan pie for everyone to enjoy!

I hope everyone is really enjoying their Thanksgiving. It is just so nice to be with everyone you love (or like?…maybe tolerate?…) eating amazing food. YUM.

100 Days of Kindness, Day 24

I made a contribution to a local family in need so that they can prepare a lovely Thanksgiving meal. Someone was collecting money to then get a gift certificate to a supermarket, so I donated money to help out. I couldn’t image not having a big turkey, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, gravy, cranberry sauce, string bean casserole, wine, beer, dessert, etc.

Donating money to one of the many families that are struggling to get a nice meal on the table is the least I can do. Especially when I have so much to be thankful for.

I hope they have a wonderful day. I hope we all realize how blessed we are. I hope I never take any of these blessings for granted.
